Every year, we surfers, celebrate ISD or International Surfing Day which falls on June 20th.
Over the past few years Brett Barley and I have tried to document the day.
Some years were more successful than others.
I had kind of given up on trying to shoot something this year because the surf forecast just looked pathetic.
Brett texted me yesterday morning to see what I was up to.
He was taking his son Masen surfing for the 1st time to celebrate ISD.
Thankfully I was able to swim out and document there time together in the ocean.
ISD or not….
This is what life is all about, spending QUALITY time with your family..!
I have this ongoing personal project that I have been working on for the past couple of years.
I didn’t spend as much time last year on the project as I would have liked to.
Hoping to to be able to spend a little more time this year documenting different types of commercial fishing and riding out with different fishermen/women.
Shannon Dunn had been on my list of people to document for some time now.
Yesterday was the first time that my schedule cooperated with the weather and her schedule.
I knew she was tuff from surfing with her over the years, but she impressed me ever more watching her sling sharks all day.
I have always had a lot of respect for Shannon, and after watching her yesterday, she just solidified that even more.
Here are a few photos from yesterdays trip.
PS. Thanks Shannon for letting me ride out with you, Shea and Corey.
