New Housing

I recently had to purchase a new housing in order to still take photos out in the ocean.

I purchased an Aquatech.

My old one sprung a leak and at this point is unrepairable.

The first swim with a new housing is somewhat nerve wracking..

You aren’t sure of the the seal on the housing and other variables….

After spending a couple hours swimming around for a couple hours I was able to familiarize myself with the housing..

It blows my old one out of the water…

Quality of glass and accessibility to my camera settings is something I had been lacking on my old housing..

These are the pics from that first swim.

In terms of surf photography these are average at best…..

Can’t wait to get some legit surf to test it out even more.

Webs and Bodie Island Lighthouse

My son had an appointment to get his teeth checked out up in Chesapeake this morning.

He is only 9 so the driving thing isn’t really in his favor yet……

I needed to stop and use the restroom…(TMI)…I know…

I also wanted to stop and take a few picks because there was some pretty cool lighting with all of the fog this morning.

I just snapped a handful of some spiderwebs and a few of the lighthouse..

Just wanted to share them.

I shot these with the Fuji X100s, still trying to get used to layout and functions.

I have really enjoyed this little camera..

Stinky Whale

Someone had posted on FB today that a whale had washed up in Avon.

So I hopped in the car and rode up there to check it out.

Shheeeewwwweeeeee….

If you were down wind of that whale it was all you could do to not vomit…

There were some other families there checking it out.

It is funny how kids have no fear..

They were poking and prodding…

It is amazing how big those whales can get…..

Nothing too special.

It was nice having my new camera around and not having to lug around a big, heavy, bulky DSLR..

Just wanted to share some of the day…

It finally warmed up some here this afternoon.

I am trying to learn balance..

Balancing just hanging with my kids and photographing my kids..

It’s hard because they are going to be 7 and 9 only once…

So I want to capture all the moments.

But I need to just hang out with them too…….without the camera.

So.

We spent time at the beach yesterday after school..

The water was freezing but it didn’t seem to affect them..

We finished up the day at the sound watching the sunset.

I guess I have a long way to go…….

I love my kids.
